Dear SES Families,
This week has been an exciting week for students with the PTO sponsored Book Fair. Classes have been busy previewing the selecting, making wish lists and spending time shopping the fantastic selection of high quality books. Thanks to the generosity of the PTO, each child will be able to select one book to take with them to help foster reading over the summer. Be on the lookout at the end of the week for an email from the PTO with a survey link to provide feedback as they plan for next year.

Speaking of summer, we were able to secure some funding to offer a half day summer camp, Monday through Thursday, 7/10-13 and 7/17-20. SES has not held a summer camp in many years and we are looking forward to providing this opportunity to families free of cost. We have partnered with the Montshire Museum and students will be engaging in fun STEAM activities and even going on a few field trips. There will be a registration link shared on Friday via bright arrow so keep an eye on your inboxes. We do have a limited number of spaces available with priority given to students who can attend all the days of the camp. If we have more interest than spaces, we will use a lottery. Please see the flier for more details.

At this time of year, there are many events and celebrations of learning. Teachers will be communicating through their newsletters and email to make sure that families are up to date with the most current information, it is important that you take time to review these communications.
Spring Construction and Road Work
We are seeing an increase in construction and road work around the school. Please anticipate giving yourself a little extra time both in the morning and at pick up time. Our morning drop off is the most congested between 8:05-8:15. If you do not want to wait in the drop off line, please try to arrive before 8:00.
End of the Year Activities – Volunteers
We have many end of the year activities for students and for many of these activities we would love adults to help chaperone. We work hard to put systems in place for school safety including our volunteer process. If you are interested in participating in an end of the year field trip or volunteering for an end of the year event, please make sure that you have completed the volunteer paperwork. This documentation needs to be completed every school year. Please reach out to Kelly Hickey or Kaylyn Bohannon if you need the paperwork.

PTO Updates
Firstly, a big thank you to SES parents Charley Pineles-Mark and Ryan Bennett for putting together gorgeous planters at the entrance to the school on Tuesday. Charley very kindly donated the flowers to the school — thank you!
The PTO is hard at work behind the scenes putting together an exciting agenda for the 2023 – 2024 school year! We would love to hear from YOU. Stay tuned for a PTO parent engagement survey, soon to be circulated.
Our next meeting will be held Tuesday, June 6th at the rec center — we hope to see you there!

Book Fair
The SES Spring Book Fair is coming up! Please mark your calendars for May 22-26th. Students will be visiting the book fair with their classes twice. Once to preview the books and then once more to purchase what they’d like. All proceeds from the Book Fair will go back to the library in new books!
We can’t have a successful Book Fair without a few parent volunteers to help with set up, assisting students with their book selections, running the cash box, and of course, packing up the left-over books at the end. Please show your support by signing up to help for a shift or two over the course of the week. You can sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0D4CAEA629A6FE3-sesspring
