Dear Parents and Guardians,
Don’t miss out on our Community Dinner, FREE, this Thursday night at 5:30 in the MES cafeteria, followed by a short 4th grade band concert and a demonstration video of students explaining some literacy lessons. Please RSVP by calling the office at 888-3101 so we can make sure there’s enough food.
Our 4th grade band performed for the very first time last Friday morning at our Community Meeting. The whole school was very impressed with how much they have learned in just half a year! And it’s the largest band Ms. Leopold has ever had! She’s so proud of their participation.
The PUPS sledding party was such a blast on Friday night. Many thanks to all the parent volunteers who brought food, set up, cleaned up (even coming here on Saturday to clean up from the bonfire) and to MFD for supplying the floodlights. It was a perfect snowy night. Be watching those Friday folders for the next PUPS event, a dance on Feb. 17th.
If your child is interested in any of our after school enrichment clubs for the next round, get those sign-up papers back to school asap. The clubs are filling up fast.
In PE class, Ms. A will be starting snow shoeing for K and Nordic skiing for grades 1-4 very soon. It will be really important on your child’s PE days to make sure they have all their winter gear, including gloves, hats, and snow pants. Ms. A suggested long socks to keep warm, not ankle socks (our ski boots are shoe style, not boots). An additional pair of socks in their backpack is also a good idea in case their feet get wet.
We have a representative from Lamoille Regional Solid Waste District coming to all our classrooms to give lessons on waste, compost, and recycling. She will then be leading the whole school in a collaborative art project to make a large mural using bottle caps. You know, all those caps that can’t be recycled – send them to school and we will recycle them into amazing art! All plastic caps and metal caps from glass jars are needed.
Sorry there aren’t any photos this week. I’ll make an effort to get around to classes and get some shots of all the great learning that’s going on.
