Dear Parents and Guardians,

Please take a close look at the pictures of our Lost and Found collection above.  See anything you recognize? We have literally dozens of really nice coats, sweatshirts, gloves, water bottles, 45 hats, etc. The kids just don’t know they have lost clothes.  Please come into school anytime and check out the tables in the hallway near the gym. At the end of the year, all unclaimed items are donated to the Second Chance Thrift Store.

The P.U.P.S. Sledding Party is back!  Don’t miss out on this really fun community event, this Friday, Jan 20th, 5:00 on the MES playground.  The P.U.P.S. group will supply pizza, hot chocolate, and all the fixins for S’mores.  We ask families to bring another little snack to share if you can.  MES has a few sleds, but the kids should bring their own sleds if they can. MFD will be there with their firetruck and floodlights for the sledding hill.  We will have a bonfire and 2 little fire pit rings for toasting marshmallows.  See you there!

This upcoming weekend is the beginning of the Lunar New Year (it’s not just Chinese people who celebrate this holiday, but many Asian peoples).  To celebrate, we want everyone at MES to wear RED on Friday, 1/20. For the Asian people, red symbolizes happiness and prosperity.  At our Friday morning Community Meeting, I will be showing the students a Youtube video about the Lunar New Year. Click here to see this short video.

Our flyers for the next round of After School Enrichment Clubs went home last Friday.  Be sure to pull these out and sign your kids up for a Wednesday or Friday club, or both.  We have expanded our offerings, but it’s still first come, first served, so get your sign-up forms back to the school office asap. We are very grateful to our teachers, paras, high school students, and even a School Board member for signing up to run these clubs. Contact Anne Demars for more information: anne.demars@lsuu.org.
