This Friday kicks off our official basketball season with a home game, Varsity and JV Boys  vs. Lamoille!  Season tickets will be on sale and the stands will be full.  The JV game starts at 5:30 and Varsity at 7:00.  This year we are happy to offer free entry to all LSUU students.

Winter Sports have always been a huge source of community and school connection for us at Peoples Academy. Whether we are skiing on the fields outback or cheering in the gym and rink, we represent a huge part of our population. Let’s all show the folks from visiting schools how we are awesome spectators and a welcoming community! This means saying hello to strangers, sharing our spaces and trails, and cheering loudly and positively. This means showing support for players on both sides of the court, ice, and trails. This means keeping cool when calls don’t go our way. In other words, DO NOT YELL at the refs or opposing players. Our young adults need a spectator section that provides positivity and support. Here is a reminder about the statewide expectations. We look forward to seeing you out there this week. For more information about our efforts to make sporting events safe for everyone please visit the VPA website.

The Ice Palace: This Saturday, December 10th Peoples Academy is happy to host the first Winter Ball since 2020.  This is a semi-formal event and will be in the PA gymnasium from 6:30 to 9:00pm.  Tickets are available for sale in the cafeteria during lunch and in the office with Michele, single & $15 couple.

Community Advisory Committee: Thank you to our group of parents and community members for continuing the work and conversation on setting a vision and goals, soon to be followed by action steps, for what we want Peoples Academy (PA) and Peoples Academy Middle Level (PAML) to look and feel like by 2024. We are working through topics, such as, diversity equity and inclusion, expanding before and after school opportunities, and the implementation of a proficiency based system while maintaining rigorous, diverse and inclusive practices. We are identifying specific goals that look like: ‘By 2024, PA/PAML will…

…..have hired multiple black & brown teachers

.ensure the physical space is representative of all students and families

….implement internships and community service for all students

….offer families training and education on implicit bias, school culture, and social emotional learning

Please let us know if you want to join the conversation and action steps that will follow. Send us an email or give us a call and tell us that you want to be included in the Community Advisory Committee email group. The more voices the better!

Community Advisory Council

Portrait of a Graduate: What skills for LSUU students are most important in the 21st century?

Lamoille South is spearheading an innovative way to create a shared vision for the LSUU graduate by engaging all stakeholders (students, teachers, families, etc.) in the community to understand the most important characteristics, skills, and experiences that graduates of LSUU need to prepare them for success in learning and life. The Portrait of a Graduate (PoG) will be shared with the community following the project and will be used for future strategic planning.

The PoG team is composed of students, staff, community members, parents, and administrators from across the PreK-12 LSUU district.  You will see our tables set up at various events throughout the year; please stop by and say hello.
