Dear SES Families,
Good morning and happy December to all Stowe Elementary families. It was another great week here last week and classrooms were a buzz with learning as students returned from break. We have a quick update for this week. If you are a family that does car pick up, please pay close attention to the School Safety section of this Greenletter.
School Safety and Fence Installation
School safety is a top priority for us at SES and this week we are taking an additional step to ensure our school is safe. In October, the Stowe SelectBoard approved the installation of a fence between the playground and the road to add security to our grounds and facilities based on a recommendation from both the school district and the Stowe Police Department.
This week on Wednesday and Thursday, the fencing will be installed. This will impact access to the playground during installation and car pick up on Wednesday and Thursday. While the fence is being installed, students will continue to be picked up in the same location, however, cars will be re-routed through the parking lot instead of using the whole bus lane for pickup. There will be people outside directing traffic to ensure a smooth and safe pickup during construction.

Winter Concert
The annual winter concert will be held on December 14th with a makeup date of December 15th. The Pre-K-2 concert will be at 1:30 in the afternoon and the 3-5th grade concert will be at 6:30 in the evening. The concerts will take place in the gym here at Stowe Elementary.
Thank You Jamie Mclimans
I want to extend a huge thank you and gratitude to Jamie Mclimans who is stepping back from her role as the PTO president here at SES. Jamie has served on the PTO in this role for several years and through her efforts in leading the PTO supported students, teachers and families through fundraising, special events, yearbooks and artist residencies. Thank you Jamie for the joy that your efforts have brought to our school community.

Community Postings
From Senora Reina,
Pulseras are coming to SES!

Starting Friday 12/9, 4th grade students will be selling pulseras between 7:30-8:10 a.m. in the Spanish classroom to raise funds for communities in Nicaragua. The cost of pulseras is $7 this year. “Bolsitas” or bags are $15.
The Pulsera Project is a nonprofit organization that educates, empowers, and connects Central American artists with students in more than 3,000 U.S. schools through the sale of colorful hand woven bracelets, or “pulseras” in Spanish. With the money raised from pulsera sales they fund many programs that empower people through secondary education, university scholarships, housing programs, healthcare, workers’ rights advocacy, gender equality, funding for environmental initiatives, and more. The Pulsera Project partners with groups & non-profit organizations who share their belief that economic aid is just one part of a mutual exchange among people who share knowledge, ideas, and life experiences for the benefit of all.
