Dear Stowe Elementary Families,

I would like to wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving break. I hope that this break provides you all with the opportunity to connect with family and friends and provides whatever your family needs right now, whether that is rest and rejuvenation or adventure.  The start of break also marks the end of the first trimester, it is hard to believe we are a third of the way through the school year. When we return from break teachers will be hard at work completing the first trimester mastery reports.

As I have shared over past weeks, there will be changes to the mastery report this year. The district has updated the mastery report based on feedback from families and teachers in an effort to provide additional clarity to families on how students are performing. New this year, we will no longer have color coding, we have shifted to a four point scale, and there will be personalized student narratives for each child.  The mastery report displays the grade level standards and teachers will provide scores on standards that have assessed and provided significant instruction. It is common at this time of the year for standards to be blank and for students to score a 2, or approaching mastery, on standards, as they will continue to develop these skills throughout the school year.

After School Programming

We had our first week of after school programming last week. It was amazing to see so many students utilize this programming. Please note, classes end at 4:30 and pick up is on the side of the school by the playground. We have no classes this week and will resume after Thanksgiving break.

Friday Program

Stowe school’s Friday program is a tradition that goes back to 1952. It is a unique experience, and can truly be life-changing for the students. Our on-snow volunteers are essential to the program’s success and longevity.

Please complete this form if you are interested in being an on-snow volunteer for the 2022-2023 Friday Program at Stowe. We would love to have you for all 8 days, but understand if you cannot commit to every day. Anything you can give helps!

After you become a volunteer, you will be assigned a coordinator who can help you navigate everything from your group to training to days you might miss and answer any other questions.

If your family could use any assistance or needs any clothing or equipment to fully participate in the Friday program, please be in touch with the school and we will coordinate with our local partners to ensure a successful year.

Winter Concert

The annual winter concert will be held on December 14th with a makeup date of December 15th.  The K-2 concert will be at 1:30 in the afternoon and the 3-5th grade concert will be at 6:30 in the evening. The concerts will take place in the gym here at Stowe Elementary.

In recognition of Veterans Day, Jennifer Faith, school librarian, worked with students to send letters and cards to veterans in honor of their service.
