Dear Parents and Guardians,

The MES staff wish all of our MES families a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving. As you can see from the pictures below, we have been creating bulletin boards all over the school showing our gratitude and all the things students and staff are thankful for.  We are grateful every day to be able to spend time with your children, watching them learn, grow, play and just be happy kids. 

Volunteering and Giving Opportunities:

Gifts for foster children: Sponsor a child with gifts. Also, donation of a gently used crib would be appreciated, Penny.Wilson@vermont.gov

Donate gifts for local families: Last year, Lamoille Family Center’s Holiday Project served 161 families including 323 kids. Donate new, unwrapped, unopened toys and gifts for children 0-12

Lamoille Community Food Share: The new normal is up over 86% over the pre-pandemic numbers of 2019. Need help stocking the shelves now more than ever., Open 9:00-11:30 Monday-Friday and 9:30-11:00 on Saturday. To volunteer: LCfoodshare@gmail.comDonate

Johnson Food Shelf: serves Johnson, Eden, Hyde Park, Belvidere & Waterville. Located at 611 Railroad Street, Johnson. Tuesday and Friday 9AM-noon, Wednesdays 4-6PM. Volunteers needed to wait on patrons, stock shelves, and make home deliveries.

Lamoille Community House Dinner: Sign up to make a meal for our neighbors experiencing homelessness.

Clarina Howard Nichols Center: seeking after-hours advocates. After hours advocates answer the hotline during overnights and weekends to provide emotional support, crisis intervention, and referrals. Volunteer opportunity or paid position. Shifts include 12 hours (weeknights) and 24 hours (weekends). Training provided. Contact: bgonyea@clarina.org

Requirements: ability to maintain confidentiality, set boundaries, and interact with survivors of domestic and sexual violence in a non-judgmental and respectful manner.

Lamoille Restorative Center (LRC): seeking volunteers for the Court Diversion program. Volunteers apply restorative justice practices in their monthly meetings with participants.
