Awesome Homecoming! We had a fun and highly spirited Homecoming week and weekend last week. Thanks to the many parents and community members who helped to support events and encourage your kids to participate. We’d like to thank Shaw’s Supermarket for sponsoring the candy giveaways at the Pep Rally, the Senior Class for organizing the Pep Rally, Bonfire and super fun Vintage Clothing Auction, and PA Boosters for organizing food, beverages and welcoming decorations and signs at the soccer games.

On to the future: Our annual All School Outing at Elmore State Park is coming up, mark your calendars for October 4th (10/7 rain date).  This day is integral in our efforts to build positive school culture and allow for education to expand outside of the classroom.  It is important for students to come to school prepared for the day with appropriate footwear and clothing (layers are a great idea).  This will be an all day outside event for all students.

Lockdown Drill Tuesday: Today the Morrisville Police Department supported our first Lockdown drill for the school year.  This drill gave us an opportunity to practice and reinforce our building security and confidence in our procedures in the event of an emergency.  A BIG thank you to MPD for supporting our drill.

Guidance – Today our student continued their second TA activity related to wellness.  These activities are designed to help set students up for a strong and successful school year.  This week our topic is ‘mindfulness.’  Mindfulness is awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment – non-judgmentally. (paying attention to the moment). Mindfulness is a tool that can help students focus, relax under pressure, and calm themselves when feeling stressed or overwhelmed.Students watched this short video clipped and reflected on the images, quotes, and how it might relate to their lives. We will be offering regular mindfulness activities in the future for our students.

Junior Opportunity: We are so excited to be able to offer a full day field trip to the University of Vermont this year. The trip is happening on Friday, October 21st from 8:30-2:30. Lunch is included! We will be eating in the Harris-Millis dining hall. We will also be listening to an admissions presentation and going on a tour of campus so make sure you dress accordingly and wear comfortable shoes. Please sign up in the guidance office and grab a permission slip to be returned to guidance by October 7th.

FAFSA Support for Families: On Friday, October 7th from 9:00am to 7:00pm families will have an opportunity to electronically meet  with Katie Gesser.  Sign up for a time to meet with Katie Gesser, the VSAC Talent Search Counselor at Peoples Academy. Please make sure to have the following items with you for our meeting:

  • Laptop with Zoom capabilities
  • 2021 tax information

Senior Year College Application Process:  Carrie will be meeting with college bound seniors this Wednesday to talk about the college application process.  Many students have already started to meet with her and are off to a solid start.   Please reach out to her directly at  or by calling 888-7551 if you would like to set up a meeting or have any questions or concerns about the college application process or future planning- or anything else!  She is happy to connect with you.  Here is the College Application Process timeline to help students and families stay on track with the process.

Attention Class of 2023: Someone will be the next Peoples Academy Heisman High School Winner and it could be you!  The Heisman High School Scholarship gives out 100 scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 to male and female scholar-athletes who serve in their schools and communities. Please see Carrie Felice/Sheila Jones for more information or visit to learn more and apply.

Junior PSAT Testing: This is a practice SAT test that you will take during the school day on Wednesday, October 12th. It is a good way to prepare for the SAT’s in the spring since you will get a personalized study guide specifically designed for you using your PSAT scores.   The registration deadline was Monday, September 12th.

Thanks for the great support and cheering during our homecoming events. We are always thankful for the many family and community members who support our teams. While the support was largely positive there were some isolated incidents of anger and frustration toward the referees. Our referees often travel long distances to be here and the number of referees in the state has dropped by 40 people from last year. We want refs to enjoy coming here and some of them are our neighbors. Please be as supportive as possible to our refs and understand that, like us, they are not perfect and make mistakes. We need everyone’s help to make PA feel like a great place to come to referee, umpire, and watch enjoyable competition. I think we do a great job at PA with adhering to this recent statement & guidelines* put forth by the Vermont Principals Association. Please help us & your children to keep it this way.
