Dear PAML Families,
Our first full week of school for the 22-23 school year is just about to come to a close. With the beginning of our afterschool program “Unbound” and athletic competitions this week, it is really beginning to feel like the school year is in “full-swing.” I’m really proud of the work we did this week kicking off supplemental instructional groups in 7th and 8th grade as well as the collective effort everyone put forth on their STAR Benchmark testing. Great Job Everyone!
Two weeks ago I asked for some help from our families in supporting our approach to managing cell phone use in the building. For the most part students have been doing a great job of keeping their cell phones away during the school day. Thank you so much for your help with this. Keep up the great work!
Several weeks ago I came across the podcast below from the New York Times, which highlighted some mental health trends we are facing in our country. The podcast discusses the significant link that exists between mental health challenges in adolescents and social media use. It’s a powerful piece of work that I think supports our approach to placing limits on access to social media and screens for our kids. I hope you’ll check it out:
Finally, our fall conferences, scheduled for October 10th, will be here before you know it. This is a great time to catch up with your student’s TA teacher and discuss how the year is going so far. At PAML one of our grounding philosophies is to make students a part of these conversations. Over the next few weeks we’ll be helping students prepare for these meetings with you so please be sure to sign up when you see the link appear right here in News and Announcements in the next week or two.
Please take a look below for some general reminders and announcements.
Thank you for your continued support.
