Dear PAML Families,
I hope everyone is continuing to enjoy this beautiful Vermont Summer we are having. Here at PAML the pace of our preparation for the school year has kicked into “high gear.” We will be welcoming our staff back to the building on 8/22 for a full week of preparation before we welcome our students back on 8/29. We are all so excited to begin the 22-23 school year!
Below are a few reminders to consider as the first day of school approaches
- E-collect registration through Power School is Open. Please do your best to complete the registration prior to the first day of school. Parent Portal Link
- Fall athletic practices will begin on 9/1. The first practice will be immediately followed by a family meeting at the athletic fields at 4:30. Please register for Fall athletics using the “RankOne” platform.
- Our annual open house will be held on 8/31 from 5:30-7:00. We are excited to welcome everyone into the building for some informal conversations with school staff and an opportunity to interact with a variety of community partners. We are hoping that this new earlier date will pose fewer conflicts for families.
As I ease back into the routine of reaching to our families each Thursday, I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce and re-introduce everyone to some new faculty members. In a year where the field of education is struggling with staffing shortages, PAML will be fully staffed as we begin the school year. We’re on-boarding a cohort of strong, talented, and experienced educators that are sure to make a positive impact on our school community. This list is a testament to the safe, affirming, and positive environment that exists at PAML. Please take a moment to learn a little bit about our new staff members below.
As always, if there are any questions, or anything we can assist our families with as we begin the school year, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the PAML office. Please stay up to date with all of our school news by subscribing to our news and announcements here.
Thank you for your continued support,
Matt Young, Principal
After 10 years of teaching 5th and 6th grade at Doty Memorial School in Worcester, I am excited to be joining the Peoples Academy team as a literacy interventionist. I have a passion for working with middle level students and am excited to read and write with students at PA! Outside of school, I love swimming in the Minister Brook with my two daughters and catching live music around central Vermont. My favorite authors are Louise Penny and Jason Reynolds.
I am a Special Educator with a focus in Orton-Gillingham reading instruction and I love working with students with specific learning needs. I have been a teacher for about 12 years and I was a former middle school science teacher. I am thrilled to join the PA Middle Level Team! I love my family, kids, the outdoors and laughing.
I have been a Special Educator in Colorado and Vermont for thirty years. I have worked with students at the elementary, middle and high school levels, and l’m excited to join the Eighth Grade Team at PAML. My focus in the last ten years has been on math. I enjoy spending time with my family skiing, biking and playing in Vermont.
I have been teaching 7th/8th grade math for the last four years and I am so excited to be joining the People’s Academy community as the 8th grade math teacher. I am passionate about making math fun and engaging! In my free time, I enjoy exploring Vermont and spending time on the lake or skiing.
I am a 1988 graduate of Peoples Academy & chose to move to Morrisville in 2010 so that my daughters could attend PA. I have been teaching English & French for the past twenty years & am thrilled to be back in the Peoples Academy community teaching middle level French. I enjoy spending time with my family, friends in France, & I love reading, especially Lee Child mysteries.
I joined the PAML faculty more than ten years ago. I made a life-affirming decision this year to come out as transgender and I am in the process of gender transition. I am incredibly fortunate to be part of a loving community here in Morrisville, and to be living in Vermont where kindness and tolerance is a shared value.
