SES Principal Welcome Letter

Dear Stowe Elementary School Community,

I hope that your summers have been filled with sunshine, opportunities for swimming, trips to the creemee stand and time shared with friends and family. It is with great enthusiasm that I write this welcome letter; it is truly a privilege to have been selected as the Stowe Elementary School principal. I look forward to getting to know each of the learners and families in this community and working together to cultivate close family and school partnerships. I believe that a strong school consists of high-quality education for each learner while nurturing the whole child in a community grounded in belonging and support.

We are busy at Stowe Elementary School getting ready for students to return to school in August.  We have a wonderful addition to the front office team and I am very pleased to introduce Kelly Hickey as the new Administrative Assistant.  Kelly shares: “I’m so excited to be back at SES! I substitute taught here when my youngest of 3 boys – Jackman – was attending here and how time flies! He has now just graduated high school and is heading off to college. I think back to my time as a parent at SES and remember fondly the warm and welcoming community of SES, and I look forward to being part of the school community. My family, Mike, Reilly, Jackman and Ryder (the dog) and I live in town and enjoy mountain biking, hiking, golfing and skiing.  I can’t wait for Friday program!”

There will be several opportunities for families to provide feedback and share what they love about SES and areas they identify for growth. I will be hosting two Family Focus Groups, Wednesday, August 17, 4:00-5:00 p.m. and Thursday, September 8, 4:00-5:00 p.m. Mark your calendars now and I will also share more information as we get closer to those dates. I will be establishing a Community Advisory Council this coming school year and will be sharing details about how to become involved when students return to school. If you would like to meet with me this summer, I am available for 1:1 meetings, please call the office at (802)253-4154 to schedule an appointment.

I hope you take time to savor all that Vermont has to offer during the summer and enjoy time as a family.  You will be receiving class placement letters in the mail the first week of August.  I will continue to utilize the Green Letter as a way to communicate throughout the school year and we will be launching social media accounts towards the end of August.

I want to wish you a happy, healthy and joyful remainder of the summer. If you are in the village or have the chance to come and play on the playground please come and say hello! Seeing the students and families of SES brightens my day and bring me so much joy, so please don’t hesitate to stop by.
