Dear SES Families ~
Our “Stowe and Tell” day was a huge success, thanks to Fred Whitcomb and Public Safety partners who collaborated in educating and entertaining kids and adults alike! And Jesse Schloff captured all of the excitement in his amazing photos. For access to his gallery of images, click this link and, if prompted, use the password commercial.
With staffing changes imminent, we wanted to take this opportunity to thank our valued employees who will not be returning and thank Patty Boerger who coordinated and all who contributed to an awesome send-off party! We also wish to thank Alison Fox, who stepped in so capably as Chelsea Stetson’s long-term substitute for her maternity leave. Fortunately for SES, Alison will be stepping into a new role as Permanent Sub/Guest Teacher for the 2022-2023 school year.
We bid a fond farewell to Jenny Harper and her daughter, Charlotte, who are moving to Proctor, Vermont with Jenny’s fiance and his 4 year old daughter. Jenny will be teaching 5th grade social studies at Rutland Intermediate School. She reports that it’s a very bittersweet transition for her as she’s loved teaching at SES for the past 5 years. Although so very grateful for her time here, she is looking forward to the next phase of her teaching career, as well as being closer to her family. We wish her all the best! In the meantime, we look forward to welcoming Lauren Keefe to the fourth grade team.
Sadly, we are also saying goodbye to Katy Farber, as she moves from the 5th grade team to her new position as an Assistant Professor of STEM Education at Saint Michael’s College. This is a fantastic career move for her (in addition to very positively impacting her commute)! We know she’ll be a huge success and we will all be rooting for her! Katie Roberge is waiting in the wings to fully support the 5th grade students and team.
We will also bid farewell to Patty Grebel and CG Finigan, our superb educational assistants, Deb Farmer, our talented SLP assistant, as well as Dot and Sue, who have navigated the challenging job of running the office with humor and a love of all SES students and families. They are all moving on to new challenges, exciting adventures, and lots of family time. I know you join me in wishing them the best.
We will proudly celebrate at 6:00 PM this evening in the gym as 57 accomplished fifth grade students graduate from SES. We are all so very proud of this wonderful group of leaders, scholars and friends. Our final assembly will take place at 9:00 AM tomorrow morning and it promises to be a very special, heartwarming event. All are welcome to attend. It will be followed by the traditional ringing of the bell, with dismissal at 12 Noon.
As this will be my last contribution to the Greenletter, I want to thank you for the opportunity to be your principal for the past three years. I absolutely love this school and this community and it has been my honor and pleasure to serve you and your families.
I hope you have a wonderful summer. Maura Wieler will begin her role as your new principal on July 1. If you need any assistance, please reach out to her or her new assistant, Kelly Hickey.

Updates From the PTO:
Yearbook Update: Our yearbooks are coming! They were delayed by labor shortages and supply chain issues, but they will be here before our last day of school!
For Pre-K and Kindergarten – any students with older siblings at SES, yearbooks will be sent home with the older student. Any Pre-K and Kindergarten families who did not get their yearbook sent home, please pick it up from the office during regular hours before June 30th.
New Members: The PTO is looking for new members for the 2022-23 school year. We are in need of several board members and volunteers – the commitment level is flexible, so please don’t be afraid to join! We would love to bring back favorite SES community events like movie nights, the multi-cultural dinner and more! However, we will need help to achieve these goals! If you are interested in joining the PTO Board or volunteering please email us – firstname.lastname@example.org.
