Greetings Stowe Middle School Families!

I met with a group of student leaders this week and discussed Halloween. They discussed the positives in dressing up and asked thoughtful questions around what is and isn’t safe, respectful, etc. We all agreed that dressing up for Halloween would bring a lot of smiles as long as costumes were appropriate. Our student leaders and I are asking educators to review the following slideshow with our students next week.

Click here to preview our slides and expectations for participating.

Our student leaders are asking their classmates to avoid dressing like a cultural figure or a person from a gender or race that is not their own, as that is likely to cause harm and we’re trying to promote our core values of belonging and kindness with this opportunity. Don’t have a costume? You can wear orange on that day too, to participate!

Our friends at the state are asking to remind our students that gatherings (especially indoors) are the primary source of positive cases right now. Please stay safe this holiday season.

We have reviewed the initial sign-up for Friday Program. We are still seeing a need for more families to complete the registration process. Please remember to sign up for the 2021-2022 Winter Program on this form.  Registration is due by Wednesday, October 27, 2021.

To wrap this week’s memo, I wanted to share with you a few photos from our learning environment this week. Have a great day!
