We had a fantastic all-school trip last week. This trip has always been a great opportunity for our entire high school community to come together. It’s a great way for us to enjoy each other and Vermont in one of its best times of the year. We offer this trip each year partly as a reward to students for more than a month of hard work, but also as one of our tools to help build a strong and lasting culture of respect toward each other and our environment. Once again, the weather cooperated along with each student. I’d like to send a special thank you to Jeff Brynn and the kitchen team for hauling a delicious free lunch up to the park, and to the wood stacker students and staff who piled up FOUR CORDS of wood for the park service.

As a reminder to families, the school day starts at 7:55am.  Students who are in excess of 10 minutes late for class are marked as absent for that period.

Best,
Phil Grant, Principal

Guidance Announcements
Attention Senior Parents and Guardians – FASFA: The new FAFSA for 2022-2023 is available! The free application for federal student aid is the first step to access all forms of financial aid including grants, scholarships and loans and is required by colleges in order to do so.  Get free one-on-one help from experts, via Zoom.  http://vsac.org/FAFSAFirst  Please contact Lindsey in guidance with any questions: 888-7551 lindsey.yablonowski@lsuu.org

Attention Senior Parents and Guardians – VSAC Financial Aid Workshop:  Here is a Calendly link families can use to sign up for a 1:1 meeting with our VSAC representative Katie Gesser: https://calendly.com/gesser/pa-fafsa-help.  Meetings can be scheduled for Monday, October 18, from 9am to 6pm. Families can have a 45–60 minute meeting with her, and she is happy to set up a follow-up meeting if you can’t finish in that timeframe. VSAC is also doing “FAFSA Fridays” throughout the fall. If the 18th doesn’t work, just note that it would be with another counselor. The dates and other info about FAFSA Fridays can be found here.  To sign up, families will need to take the following steps:

  1. Click on the Calendly Link
  2. Select 10/18 on the calendar that pops up
  3. Select a time that works best for you

AP Students make sure you have registered on College Board in your AP Classroom. Ask your teacher for the join code or see Sheila in the guidance office. If you are taking an AP class through VTVLC, you need to register on College Board as well. The only way for you to sit for an AP exam is to be registered on College Board. Please see Sheila to join your AP section on College Board.

AP bills will be distributed in early October. You will need to decide if you are taking the AP exam and pay a minimum of $40 per exam prior to November 8th. Please talk to your teacher, your guidance counselor or Sheila if you have any questions

Community STAYING SAFE!
Vaccine Form: If your student is eligible for the vaccine, we are requesting that you complete an attestation form. This form has been emailed to everyone individually.  We are also providing it here in case you missed it. The purpose of this has nothing to do with masking at this time, but is more focused on potential close contacts and keeping our students in school. If there is a positive case and your child is a close contact quarantine will be necessary, even if there are no symptoms, without evidence of vaccination.  Having this information supports a fast and efficient process when determining risks.
