Greetings Stowe Middle School Families,
Our first week of school was a success! Thank you for all the hard work you put into supporting child(ren) in getting them ready for school! All of our students were welcomed by educators from Stowe Middle School each day this week! We were able to answer their questions and guide them to their first period class. See a photo from our Opening Day below!
On Monday and Wednesday, our 6th Graders and new students were welcomed into their advisory families! Stowe Middle School’s Advisory Program is a multigrade opportunity. In most advisory groups you’ll find four students from sixth, seventh and eighth grade. Students stay with their advisors through their entire middle school career. Advisory promotes our core values of belonging, kindness and willingness to grow! See the photo below of an example of our first get to know you advisory activity!
Other opportunities to build each grade level’s sense of belonging occurred throughout the week as well! Our 7th Grade educators shared the marshmallow challenge with the entire grade! Students were asked to reflect on their communication skills, what worked well and what could be improved.
In week two, we will be settling into our schedule a little more. We had a few things to work out along the way for lunch, recess and enrollment for band and chorus. Look for additional details in our communication next Thursday about these offerings! We are excited to bring back the chorus and band this year for in-person rehearsals! We are starting with enrollments of 50+ students in chorus and 60+ students in band! This musical season promises to be a smashing success!
Looking forward to another great week!
