Students are using lockers for the first time in a year and a half … they missed them!

Dear PAML Families,

I am thrilled to report that our first week is now behind us.  We’ve started to settle into our new routines and everything has gone safely and smoothly.  Our focus for these initial weeks of school is to establish familiarity with the day for students, learn school-wide expectations, and get to know the folks in our school community.  We have welcomed 38 new students to our building this year (not including 5th graders) so we have a lot of acquainting and reacquainting to do.  We were all so excited to begin our athletics season on Wednesday this week.  We are looking forward to a great season.  Below you will find some of the same information I shared last week and a few new details to share as we now have the first day of school behind us.

Have a great long weekend!

Please be sure to complete your annual E-collect registration.  These are important forms.  Included in these forms is the Free and Reduced Lunch form, this form is connected to a critical source of funding for our school.  If you need assistance with the forms please get in touch with the office.

Please remind your student that they should come to school with a water bottle and other clothing so that they can be comfortable outdoors.  We continue to pursue a multi-layer approach to preventing virus transmission in our school.  Our strategies are as follows:

  • Masks are required when indoors at school and on the bus (Please help remind your student to bring a clean mask and an extra each day)
  • Everyone is asked to please stay home when sick.
  • Students can expect to eat lunch in their classrooms or outdoors in small groups for the foreseeable future.
  • Our HVAC system has been optimized to cycle as much fresh air into classrooms as possible.

Please mark your calendars with these important dates:
September 3 and 6: No school for Labor Day holiday
September 16: No school in observance of Yom Kippur
September 28: Picture Day!

Practice for all soccer and cross country teams began on 9/1.  There is still plenty of time to sign-up.  Please encourage your student to participate if they are interested.  We are particularly interested in more 6th grade boys for soccer.
