Dear PAML Families,

The big news this week is about vaccines.  We are so thrilled that a portion of students in our building now have access to a COVID-19 vaccine.  Whether or not to have your student vaccinated is of course personal choice.  We encourage as many of our students as possible to get vaccinated and if you do have questions please get in touch with your primary care physician.  In the slideshow this week I have included as much information that I can about vaccine safety and access in our area.

This week I was also fortunate enough to spend a little time in our ⅚ Humanities classrooms.  I was treated to presentations from Mrs. Slater’s “Change Maker” projects.  Students peppered me with proposals about therapy dogs in school, later school start times, and a greater commitment to “green” initiatives.  While the proposals were great, the writing the students composed was even better.  Our teachers have been talking a lot about using an authentic audience to motivate students in their writing.  In this case I was the authentic audience and the increased motivation really showed.

This week in the slideshow I’ve shared a great video of the continental drift rap battle that took place in Mrs. Hunkins’ 6th grade science class.  Please be sure to check it out. I’ve also included a link to details for our family step up video conferences to be held on 5/25.  I’ve also repeated many of the announcements from previous weeks that are still relevant.  Finally, there are a couple of new questions that came through our form this week that may be useful information for everyone.

Thank you as always for your continued support in helping make this school year a success.
