The Lamoille South Unified Union Board of School Directors is pleased to announce the selection of Ryan Heraty as the next Superintendent of Schools for Lamoille South Unified Union, effective July 1, 2021. Mr. Heraty holds an Educational Specialist degree from Gordon College, a Master of Arts in Special Education from Gordon College, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Colorado-Boulder.
Mr. Heraty is currently Principal at Union Elementary School in Montpelier, Vermont. He has also served as Principal, Assistant Principal, and Special Education Teacher and Coordinator in elementary, middle, and high schools.
“I believe that public school is the greatest opportunity for establishing an equitable environment where all children can be provided with limitless futures and endless opportunities,” said Mr. Heraty. “As educators, we have a responsibility to work genuinely with our community to design systems, structures, and experiences that make this dream a reality.”
Mr. Heraty was selected after an extensive screening process that was coordinated by the New England School Development Council (NESDEC) of Marlboro, Massachusetts. The process included a review of his application documentation and an interview with a screening committee comprised of members of the faculty, parents, students, and LSUU administrators. Mr. Heraty’s application was recommended for further consideration and review by the LSUU Board and shared publicly for feedback.
