PAML Student Prudential Spirit of Community Honoree

Peoples Academy Middle Level (PAML) is proud to announce that Shyla Clayton has been selected as a Prudential Spirit of Community award winner.  She is Vermont’s top middle level youth volunteer for 2021.

Shyla is a sixth grader at PAML and helps make the school’s community a better place in a number of ways.  Shyla regularly volunteers at Second Chance Thrift Shop, which benefits Copley Hospital, helps keep our roadsides clean, and assists at NCAL. Shyla started volunteering at Green Up Day at a very young age. In addition to donating homemade toys and treats to NCAL, Shyla read books after school to dogs and cats at the shelter.  As a member of the Community Service Club at PAML, Shyla also helps with recycling and composting efforts.  We are proud of Shyla’s accomplishments and for achieving this prestigious award.

The Prudential Spirit of Community Award is the United States’ largest youth recognition program based solely on youth community service.  Created in 1995 by Prudential and the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), the program honors middle level and high school students for outstanding service to others at the local, state, and national level.
