Dear PAML Families,
Happy New Year!
It is my sincere hope that everyone had a restful and rejuvenating break. 2021 certainly did not waste any time bringing challenging situations to our school community. The events of Wednesday in Washington DC put educators in both a difficult and empowering situation. Here at PAML we spent time in our advisory periods on Thursday and Friday to hold structured conversations for our students about what happened. This week I have been reminded about the power of our Teacher Advisory system and the benefit of our commitment to implementing Restorative Practice in our buildings. I am so grateful that we were able to lean on these structures during this difficult time. I have included the activity we led our students through in the slideshow this week. It will not be the last.
I am pleased to report that middle level athletics began yesterday. Our plans for supervision and screening all worked well and we are delighted to have our season underway.
This week in the slideshow I have included a number of community announcements. I would encourage everyone to take a look and see if any of these opportunities would be beneficial to your family. I have also repeated some information about athletics and shared some examples from our cooking program offered through Unbound.
Thank you for your continued support as we navigate this unique school year.
