Dear PAML Families,
A few reminders to start:
- As you make plans for the holiday season please pay attention to Vermont’s Cross State Travel and social gathering guidance (more on this in the slideshow).
- For the safety of our screeners please wear a face covering while dropping off students in the morning.
Here at PAML we remain committed to providing a safe in-person learning environment to students for as long as it remains reasonable to do so. Please help us continue to stay open for in-person instruction by vigilantly following the Governor and the Department of Health’s guidance by not travelling during the holidays, avoiding hosting non-immediate family members in your home, and avoiding social gatherings.
This week we experienced the first positive case of COVID-19 within our immediate PAML community. Our thoughts are with the affected person and we wish them a speedy recovery. We are working with our Director of Nursing and the Vermont Department of Heath to make sure all of the appropriate contract tracing protocols are being followed.
This situation serves as a very important reminder to follow our established protocols and routines. One item that has proven critically important is mask wearing. As a building we will be re-committing to proper mask wearing and promoting the highest level of compliance possible from everyone. Our current situation is also an indication that the additional protocols we have put in place since day one, although inconvenient, are working. The situation with the recent positive case this week would have been far worse and far more disruptive had our procedures not been followed.
This week in the slideshow I have included some details about our plans for winter sports. We are excited to see those activities begin on December 7. I’ve also re-posted our plans for students who are home quarantining or mildly ill. Finally, I have included a resource created by John Meyer, LSUU Director of Technology, that can help guide families in using the “Parent View” in Schoology. I did not receive any questions in the form this week, but I did receive a handful messages thanking our staff for their hard work during this challenging time. We appreciate those notes so much and they have been passed on to our faculty.
Thank you all for your continued support.
Matt Young, Principal
